Four different camel experiences
Camel rides, camel racing and a camel dairy farm are different things. Visitors often mix them up when they search. A ride is a tourist activity run by a safari operator. Racing is a sport with its own season. A farm tour shows how camels are kept and how camel milk is made.
Most visitors meet a camel in one of two ways: a short ride that is part of an evening or morning safari, or a longer trek. The facts below come from operator pages, so they are the operators' own statements and not an independent seal of quality.

Ride, trek, farm or race
What each one is and what you should ask.
| Experience | What it is | Time | Price 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camel ride on a safari | Short ride as one stop of an evening or morning safari | Part of 4 to 6 hours | Evening safari from $177, morning from $130 |
| Camel trek | Walk across the desert with a caravan | 45 minutes | – |
| Camel farm tour | Visit to a farm and factory with milk tasting | About 1.5 hours | – |
| Camel racing | Races on a track, mostly early mornings at the weekend | – | – |
The safari prices are from one operator's evening and morning safaris, where a camel ride is listed among the stops. They are the whole safari prices, not a price for the ride alone. Prices are public listing prices and not final checkout prices.

Animal welfare: what to ask and what operators say
Claims you can compare. None is an independent certificate.
Rides per day and rest days
One heritage operator states a maximum of two ride sessions per camel per day and one rest day a week. Ask any operator how many sessions a camel works and when it rests.
Vet checks and saddles
The same operator lists veterinary checks and padded saddles. It also mentions weight limits for riders without giving a number, so ask for the figure that applies on your day.
The law
A federal animal welfare law from 2007 requires adequate feed and water and careful transport of animals. It sets the basic duty of care. It is not a checklist for a tourist ride.
A self-description is not a seal
All of the above comes from the operator. If a camel looks thin, sore or distressed, or the operator cannot answer your questions, choose another.
The camel farm tour
For milk, not for riding.
What it covers
The Camelicious farm and factory tour gives an introduction to camel keeping, camel milk production and a tasting. It lasts about 1.5 hours.
Where
The farm is at Madinat Hind 3, Exit 26 on the Dubai to Al Ain Road. Groups should arrange the visit ahead of time.
Before you drive out
Ask about prices and regular visit slots. Do not assume camel farms are open to walk-ins, or that you can feed the animals.
Camel racing season
Tourism guidance describes the racing season as October to April, with races mostly on early weekend mornings. The main track is the Al Marmoom Camel Racetrack. That is a general description from 2025, not a race calendar for 2026/27, so check race days, entry and parking close to your visit.
Racing, farms and tourist rides are separate. A race track is not a place to ride. Our desert areas page explains where safaris go.

Dubai camel ride: frequently asked questions
How much does a camel ride cost in Dubai?
No single price applies. A short ride is usually part of a safari package: one operator's evening safari starts at $177 and its morning safari at $130 per person in 2026. Those are whole-safari prices.
How long is a camel ride?
On a safari it is a short stop. One heritage operator describes a camel trek of 45 minutes. Ask the length of the ride you book.
Are camel rides cruel?
That depends on the operator. One operator states at most two ride sessions per camel a day, one rest day a week, vet checks and padded saddles. These are the operator's own claims, so ask about them and walk away if the answers are vague.
Can I visit a camel farm?
Camelicious offers a farm and factory tour of about 1.5 hours, which groups should arrange ahead. Do not assume you can drop in or feed the animals.
When can I watch camel racing?
The general season runs from October to April, mostly early weekend mornings, at the Al Marmoom Camel Racetrack. Check race days before you go.
What do official travel advisories say right now?
As of October 21, 2026, Germany's Federal Foreign Office has advised against non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates since September 30, 2026, citing a volatile regional situation and the risk of airspace closures. The UK Foreign Office updated its advice on July 24, 2026 and notes the risk of further escalation, flight cancellations and temporary airspace closures. The US State Department has listed the country at Level 3, Reconsider travel, since August 29, 2026. Read your own country's current advice before you book, and choose flexible cancellation terms.
